    This week we launched our Designed in Hackney initiative to highlight design talent in the east London borough of Hackney, one of the five host boroughs for the London 2012 Olympic Games and home to Dezeen’s offices.     This week Richard Meier & Partners unveiled designs for a 34-storey tower in Mexico City, SOM won a competition to design a skyscraper for China with proposals that incorporate a 30-storey-high opening window and the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat in Chicago released a report that revealed a record number of skyscrapers were completed in 2011.
