This week on Dezeen we celebrated our fifth birthday! We picked some of our favourite partiesstories and projects since 2006 and published a selection of the lovely tweets we received.

Meanwhile, Foster + Partners designed a glossy production facility for supercar brand McLaren, new images of Daniel Libeskind’s museum in Dresden provoked more negative responses and one reader said a border checkpoint by Berlin architect J. Mayer H. looks “like a disfigured 1960′s spaceship with a caravan on top.”

Japanese designers Nendo created an interior full of fake doors for a boutique in Kyoto and a sunken bridge that traverses the moat of a Dutch fort received reviews such as “poetic”, “peaceful” and “ingenious”.

renovation of a 1960s residence won the Manser Medal 2011 for Britain’s best house, Elle Decoration editor Michelle Ogundehin lamented the decline of Habitat in a blog post, a U.N. report highlighted a 60-fold increase in royalties and licensing fees paid in the last 40 years and footballer Wayne Rooney chose to hire a firm of architects to design his new garden shed.

Robert Stadler designed a new bistro chair for iconic manufacturer Thonet, while on Dezeen Screen we published a video of designer Matthias Pliessnig wrapping an original Thonet chair in strips of white oak.

Established & Sons design director Sebastian Wrong showed us around their presentation at the Qubique design fair in Berlin.

We also compiled all of our stories on artist and designer’s studios and the new BN0021 watch by iconic German brand Braun launched on Dezeen Watch Store.

Follow us on Twitter and Facebook for regular updates and discussions throughout the week.
