Our most popular story featured architectural photos that have been manipulated to create bizarre and fantastical buildings, and Wolfgang Tschapeller surprised readers with an equally strange-looking design to overhaul the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Ateliers Jean Nouvel unveiled designs for a new police headquarters in Belgium that readers describe as an ominous watchtower. Other popular stories included a “pristine” and “beautifully done” top-heavy concrete and glass house in Portugal, a staircase looping between the floors of an Olympic museum in Georgia and a Dutch house submerged in snow that features steps made of old snowboards and a bookcase made of an old car.
