dezeen Posted April 20, 2012 Report Share Posted April 20, 2012 In case you hadn’t noticed, this week we’ve been in Milan for the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, where we’ve been filming a daily TV show from Dezeen Studio powered by Jambox at MOST. Highlights include interviews with Zaha Hadid, Tom Dixon and Faye Toogood, plus we’ve been talking to journalists about this year’s hot topics, giving away prizes and touring exhibitions at MOST and elsewhere in the city. Other exciting projects from MOST that we’ve featured include an installation where mysterious helpers dressed in white guide visitors through a healing performance and the launch of new design brand La Chance, who have created one colourful and one sober version of each piece in their inaugural collection. Over in the Ventura Lambrate district we’ve seen a chair growing inside a greenhouse and a table that fans out from a rectangle into a circle, while elsewhere we’ve found a lamp that blows bubbles to create temporary transparent shades. In architecture news, BIG unveiled proposals for a skyscraper in downtown Vancouver that divided opinion and David Adjaye revealed his plans to create a campus for nine cultural institutions in the centre of Frankfurt. We also published two popular projects from Spanish firm Exit Architects: a concrete sculpture museum that readers noticed appears empty and a cultural centre inside a former prison. Our most popular story of the week is a house in Japan with an impressive cantilever, which our readers don’t think would fare well in an earthquake, and our most popular movie presents a printer that can make self-folding origami.
